Comment Jouer
Imposter is a free social deduction word party game. All players pass a single phone and secretly view their assigned word. One player — the Imposter — receives a similar but different word and must bluff their way through the discussion without being caught.
- Passez le téléphone — chaque joueur tape pour voir son mot privately, then passes it face-down.
- Everyone discusses clues without saying the word directly.
- Les joueurs votent pour identifier l'Imposteur.
Combien de joueurs faut-il ?
3 to 20 players. The sweet spot is 5–10 players — enough to hide the Imposter in a crowd without the discussion dragging.
Combien de temps dure une partie ?
A single round typically takes 5–10 minutes. You can set a discussion timer in Settings to keep things moving.
In Imposter mode, Civilians all get the same secret word (e.g. "Dog") and the Imposter gets a closely related but different word (e.g. "Wolf"). The Imposter actually knows something, making bluffing and detection far more interesting than getting nothing at all.
Imposter mode vs Classic mode — what's the difference?
Mode Imposteur
Civilians get the main word. The Imposter gets a similar but different word. Harder to catch, more strategic bluffing.
Classic Mode
Everyone gets the same word except the Imposter, who gets nothing. The Imposter must survive purely by listening and copying clues.
Comment l'Imposteur gagne-t-il ?
The Imposter wins if the group votes out the wrong person, or if the Imposter correctly guesses the Civilians' secret word before being eliminated.
Comment les Civils gagnent-ils ?
Civilians win by successfully voting out the Imposter. Be careful — clues need to be specific enough for other Civilians to recognise, but not so obvious that the Imposter can guess the word.
Mr. White is an optional third role available in Imposter mode. Enable it on the setup screen before starting a game.
Mr. White receives no word at all and must survive the discussion purely by listening to everyone else's clues.
The twist: if the group votes out Mr. White, they get one last chance to guess the civilian word and steal the win. A correct guess means Mr. White wins. A wrong guess means Civilians win.
When Mr. White is caught, tap "Mr. White Was Caught" on the game screen to trigger the guess prompt before revealing results.
- Give clues that are vague enough to fit both your word and the real word.
- Listen closely — Civilians will reveal the word through their clues.
- Don't be the first or last to give a clue.
- Mirror the confidence of the group — panic is the biggest tell.
- Give clues specific enough that other Civilians clearly recognise them.
- Watch for vague or generic clues — they might fit a related concept, not the real word.
- Ask follow-up questions during discussion. Imposters stumble when pressed.
- Trust your gut — off energy is a real signal.
